The Amazon ablaze
The Amazon
ablaze in a craze of flame
Burning our
protection, questioning our salvation
Tree, leaf
and branch, fur, bone and sinew
Swallowed by
nature’s provoked wrath
Life turned
to shadow, time stolen
Our
hallowed sanctuary discarded and crumbling to the ground
As we watch, helpless, mournful, shamed
Will the
world now learn?
Will the
world now turn?
To the
truth that a forest cannot be owned or disowned
That
borders contort the human heart
That the
world is one and the Amazon belongs to no-one
Nature’s
greatest temple deserves the protection of all
That we may
all partake of her pristine splendour
