Getting what you want out of it

I’m an enigma to myself: essentially I want to be free, but when I’m part of something organised, I want to do everything “the correct way." I find myself pressing myself to follow the rules, and when I want to break the rules, I want to make everyone else do what I’m doing, thus creating a new rule of sorts.

But I’ve come to realise that when we are part of something, working alongside others, we don’t have to understand what we are doing in exactly the same way; we can get out of it what we choose to.

Paradoxically, life is a collective endeavour that we experience individually. Everything we contribute, learn, understand, gain is individual and subjective.

It doesn’t matter what others think of us we are all the only ones living our own lives.
